Marilyn has recently retired and moved from the Gold Coast to the Lockyer Valley with her husband Ken. An artist for over 30 years, Marilyn trained in the fundamentals with oils including structure, colour, perspective etc and has now branched out into other mediums including acrylics and pencil, and is inspired by Australian landscapes, bird life, wildlife and historical buildings. Pet portraits also feature in her work with a keen eye for detail.
Marilyn worked for over ten years as a graphic artist in her printing business at Southport where she designed and created business cards, brochures, flyers and artwork to be printed onto various promotional products.
Recently, Marilyn illustrated a children’s book about a very clever border collie named Tip which has now been published in London, England. This inspired her to write, illustrate and self-publish her own children’s book about Kooky the kookaburra and his adventures in the Australian outback, along with his many bush friends.
Marilyn is a member of the Somerset Art Society and paints with a local art group at Fernvale. Her artworks and gift-ware are on display at local galleries and cafes.
